Ideal Response responds to Severe Trauma cleaning requirement working with Hammersmith & Fulham Metropolitan Police – Trauma Clean in London to Privately Owned Property.

The Problem

Hammersmith and Fulham Metropolitan Police called on the experience of Ideal Response at 12.30am one night over the Christmas period to deal with a severe trauma clean of a property.

Late the previous evening a sixteen year old had been severely stabbed over a dozen times in a privately owned stairwell in a block of flats near to Wandsworth Bridge. Thankfully, the young man survived the incident.

Technical situation

Working with specialist Scene of Crime officers Ideal Response worked through the early hours of the following morning within a specially cordoned off area removing body fluids and forensic dust that had been deposited around a communal stairwell.

A complete sanitisation and hygiene clean was carried out, with the aim of hygienically and safely cleaning this without disturbing the tenants of the residential block overnight. Once the full trauma scene cleaning had been completed the Senior Scene of Crimes Director indicated that he was very happy to call upon Ideal Response for any future cleaning requirements on behalf of Hammersmith and Fulham Metropolitan Police.

Solution

The final results of the clean were signed off by the Senior Officers in the early hours of the next morning. The tenants of the flats had thankfully not been exposed to, or witnessed the effects of this harrowing incident.

Graeme Findlay Project Manager (Lean Pathfinder) H&F Direct / Finance & Corporate Services, London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham:

“We were very pleased with the response we got from Ideal Response. We called out of the blue, after midnight on a bank holiday. Thanks”

Ideal Response has technicians trained by the National Academy of Crime Scene Cleaners and can be called upon to deal with the sad, but very necessary task of trauma scene cleaning. This can be anything from a crime scene, suicide, accident and often decompositions which may have gone undetected for some time. This work is very specialist and we recognise the need for not only great care and sensitivity but also skilled operators to clean a wide variety of environments in many different circumstances, often when someone has been seriously injured or even where a life has been lost.

During our crime scene cleaning we are able to remove from the site hazardous and unpleasant waste and clean and arrange discreet and safe disposal, restore personal possessions as may be required and minimise the impact of a delicate situation on family members, landlords, tenants and other people involved in an unfortunate situation.

Where needles, blood or defecation are involved we utilise the latest safety techniques and equipment to ensure that any area is made safe as quickly as possible.

Our 24 hour emergency help line ensures that any situation can be dealt with quickly and efficiently and is called upon by landlords, police, householders and family members – all in the confidence that Ideal Response can be left to deal with a situation they would rather not be facing alone.
