Trauma cleaning needed within London flat

The Problem

Trauma cleaning is a specialised service required in situations where blood, bodily fluids, or other biohazards need to be safely and thoroughly removed. These materials can carry dangerous pathogens such as hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and HIV, posing serious health risks if not properly handled.

In the UK, specialist trauma cleaning is needed in thousands of cases each year, including crime scenes, accidents, unattended deaths, and medical emergencies. Public Health England states that exposure to biohazards can lead to serious infections if not professionally decontaminated.

One such case involved an elderly gentleman in London who suffered a deep cut to his arm after accidentally dropping a plate. The injury required 14 stitches, and during the incident, blood was spread across multiple rooms in his home, including the living room, bathroom, and hallway.

After returning from the hospital, he attempted to clean up the significant amount of blood using household towels, but it was too much to handle. Concerned about hygiene, contamination, and potential health risks, he reached out for professional trauma cleaning assistance.

The Solution

We understand that trauma cleaning isn’t just about removing visible stains, it’s about ensuring a safe, decontaminated environment.

Step 1: Safe & Professional Cleaning

Our trauma cleaning specialists arrived in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including biohazard suits, gloves, and respirators. Safety is paramount – not only for our team but also to prevent the spread of pathogens within the home.

We started by identifying all affected areas, including furniture, walls, and personal items. The client had unknowingly spread contamination while moving through the house, making comprehensive cleaning essential

Step 2: Deep Decontamination & Biohazard Removal

Surface cleaning – We meticulously cleaned all hard surfaces, including walls, furniture, and even a chessboard and pieces, which required detailed hand-cleaning.

Decontamination with Decon 7 – This advanced disinfectant eliminates bacteria, viruses, and fungi while leaving an invisible antimicrobial barrier to prevent future microbial growth.

Carpet & soft furnishing disposal – Unfortunately, the carpets were beyond restoration due to the blood being left untreated for several days. With the client’s permission, we safely removed and disposed of them in hazardous waste bags, following strict biohazard disposal regulations.

Step 3: Air Purification & Final Testing

Once all surfaces were cleaned and decontaminated, we deployed cleaning fogging technology, a process that releases a fine mist of disinfectant into the air. This neutralises airborne bacteria and ensures that no microscopic pathogens remain.

To verify that the property was completely safe, we conducted ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) testing, which measures microbial contamination levels. This provides scientific proof that the cleaning process was 100% effective.

  • No further risk of infection
  • Safe, sanitised living environment
  • Proper disposal of all contaminated materials

At a time when the client was already dealing with physical and emotional distress, we ensured that the clean-up process was stress-free and fully managed.
