Storm Frank
Following on from our Blog post on climate change and flooding at the end of May, Europe has experienced more shocking floods during the first week of June. Parisians turned out in their hordes to view the spectacle of the Seine reaching its highest levels in 34 years. Overnight the Seine level swelled to 6.1m (20ft) higher than normal. Whilst tourists and locals took photographs to remember, the flood water had its impact on human life. Four people died, 42 were injured and 17,000 homes were left without electricity. The devastation spread across Europe, 11 killed in Germany within several affected towns and similar scenes could be found in Romania, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands and Poland.
In December, storm Frank, the sixth named storm of the season, hit the UK. Met office pictures showed an ominous swathe of grey engulfing the West of the UK with no mercy. From the South coast to Scotland, the UK has yet again suffered the devastation caused by these intense storms. So many businesses and individuals were left to deal with the consequences. But who does actually deal with the consequences?
The Problem
The problem becomes a lot more serious, and potentially deadly, when sewage is involved. As we saw from the 2004 Boscastle floods, the 2005 and 2009 Cumbria floods, the severe flash floods across the UK in the summer of 2012, the damage caused by floodwater and all that entails can bring a region to its knees. The clean-up from flood damage is far less traumatic and much quicker if it is undertaken by a professional flood damage restoration company.
Ideal Response have seen first-hand the stress caused by flood damage and take pride in providing a rapid response service to water damage, flood damage clean up and sewage damage. We have a vast pool (no pun intended) of resources including rapid drying equipment and state-of-the-art decontamination technology to enable us to allow businesses to return to normal in the quickest possible time frame. As exclusive UK providers of BioSweep technology, we ensure the property and its environment are left with a 100% decontamination guarantee.
What does this mean for you? We understand that flood water and the damage it causes will be stressful enough. It gives us great satisfaction to be able to minimise the stress of an already traumatic situation by restoring properties to their pre-flood state in an impressively quick time frame. Optimally, nobody would have to suffer the trauma of flood damage but realistically, the evidence suggests this is on the increase. Ideal Response will be ready to act fast, continuing to get businesses up and running quickly across the UK.
